Sytse YBEMA MSc (1977)
Graduated at Wageningen University in aquatic environmental and fisheries studies, Sytse build up a track record in riverine, estuarine, coastal and marine research. The last few years he has been leading and coordinating acoustic oceanic fishery surveys in the Northern Atlantic and Western Africa Region resulting in a chair position at the ICES international Planning Group for North-East Atlantic Pelagic Ecosystem Surveys.
His recent fishery research activities in the Northern Atlantic region, Africa and South-America lead towards his ambition of long term sustainable harvest, increasing awareness and understanding of applied science in marine activities.
Active in the Netherlands (-2009) and Norway (2009-) in marine research, marine surveys, fishery development, recently as sole proprietor.
Sytse is active in business development and participation in enhancing the sustainability and quality of our marine resources. Implementing innovative technologies and approaches in the marine and maritime sector is one of his main competences. He is competent in linking institutional organizations, industry, professionals in the marine (fishery) sector, marine research and industry stakeholders on a global level.
